Havis – Waterproof Panel Light
New Waterproof Pump Panel Light
By Cameron Blain, 267-495-9140
In my travels over the past seven months, I have observed everything from expensive LED tube lighting to inexpensive plastic halogen fixtures at the pump panel. One thing is for sure, projecting adequate light at the pump panel remains an area for improvement on the truck.
Cost Savings
Havis’ answer to poorly lit pump panels comes by way of a new waterproof, cold cathode florescent fixture. Unveiled at FDIC, one of the major benefits is price. The fixture costs approximately 30-50% less than tube-mounted LED compartment lights and retails for $69.00.
Whiter light
Similar to the H.I.D. technology mentioned above, cold cathode technology produces a “whiter” light. The whiter the light output, the closer we get to replicating daytime conditions. While that inexpensive halogen you purchase at $15.00 may be a great price point, ask 95% of fire departments about the quality and quantity of light produced at the pump panel and nearly all will agree that more is needed.
Long bulb life
Havis markets the fixture as having an 18,000+ hour bulb life. Unlike halogen bulbs, departments won’t notice that the fixture will burn out at hour 18,001. Rather, the fixture slowly begins losing its brightness. Even with an 18,000 rated bulb life, chances are the light will outlast the life of the fire truck. Havis-Shields backs this claim up with a five year, “no bulb change” warranty.
Application versatility
Rub rails, vehicle compartments, undercarriage areas, aerial control boxes, and outrigger jacks are just a few of the many applications the new KR-CCL-x-WP fixture can be used in. We’d love to hear from you on where you’re using this light at.
The new KR-CCL-1-WP, KR-CCL-2-WP, and KR-CCL-3-WP are in stock.
