One Step Ahead...
Havis-Shields
is proud to introduce the next generation of vehicle scene
lighting for the public safety market:
The Magnafire
3000 floodlight. This light incorporates all the features
necessary for today's fire service: high-intensity light
output, compact design,plus affordability.
The Magnafire
3000's mirror polished reflector has increased vertical
surface area and rounded
parabolic corners for optimum efficiency. The result is
a bright, smooth, floodlight beam
pattern that lets you put light where you want it.
The
Magnafire 3000's low-profile housing measures only 5- 1/4"
high by 13-1/2" wide, following
the style made popular by our Alpha 2000 in 1991, but with
many new features.
The Magnafire
3000's simplified design enhances reliability. Its unibody
die-cast
housing eliminates
gaskets needed in extruded fixtures; while the one-piece
lens frame allows
easy access to change bulbs. The lens is held in place
by retention clips so it can't
fall out when the frame is removed. The reflector is field
replaceable. A unique swivel "O" ring seal makes
the adjustment knuckle watertight, eliminating a potential
leakage point or the need for silicone sealants.
The Magnafire
3000 runs cool. Its large, built-in, heat dissipating fins
carry heat out of the fixture
and are spaced apart for easy cleaning. The light is ETL
listed to ANSI/UL standard 1571 for outdoor lighting safety.
Before you spec
your next truck, be sure to check out the Magnafire 3000.

H.I.D - 12V LIGHTING

Finally! A 12-volt
floodlight that's really bright.
The Havis-Shields
Magnafire 3000 H.I.D. (high-intensity discharge) 12-volt
floodlight produces four times as much illumination as
a halogen light, yet draws only 6 amps. Its light output
is comparable to some 11 O-volt lights without requiring
a separate generator or inverter.
The secret is
the high-intensity discharge lamp technology combined with
a mirror- polished reflector to give it significantly more
light output than other 12-volt lights. The light beam
floods an area with uniform illumination over an 80-degree
arc to avoid bright spots that could blind firefighters
and rescue personnel.
Unlike some other
high-intensity discharge lights that can take up to 30
minutes to reach their full brightness, the Magnafire 3000
H.I.D. has an electronic igniter circuit that brings the
lamp to full intensity in just 30 seconds. This feature
also allows the light to be turned off and restarted immediately,
rather than taking a half-hour or longer as with other
high-intensity discharge lights.
...and it's tough
too.
The Magnafire
3000 H.I.D. floodlight has a rugged, die-cast aluminum
housing with a bonded powder coat finish that resists chipping
and corrosion. The one-piece lens frame can be easily removed
to allow quick access to change the bulb, and the lens
is held in place with retention clips so it can't accidentally
fallout when the frame is removed.
The lens itself
is made from a special glass that won't suddenly crack
when the lamp head is accidentally sprayed with water.
In tests, the lamp was turned on for 15 minutes to allow
it to reach its maximum operating temperature. After the
lamp was hot, a stream of water was suddenly sprayed directly
on the lens. The light kept operating without any sign
of cracking on the lens.
Mount it anywhere.
The Magnafire
3000 H.I.D. can be mounted on a wide variety of fixed top-raise
and bottom-raise telescoping poles --including top-mount,
side-mount, and thru-body- mount --as well as portable
tripod-mounts. A handle allows the light to be manually
aimed horizontally and vertically, while large, easy-to-grip
locking knobs and releases secure it in position.
The light can
also be mounted in a fixed position into the body of a
fire apparatus or ambulance. The lens frame protrudes beyond
the vehicle body and can still be quickly removed to access
the bulb.
An ideal solution
for many applications:
Perhaps the biggest
advantage of the Magnafire 3000 H.I.D. is that it does
not require an expensive and bulky generator or inverter.
Because each light draws only 6 amps of 12-volt power,
it can be easily handled by the vehicle's alternator.
For
pumpers, this means that a fire department doesn't have
to sacrifice valuable compartment space to mount a generator.
This also means that the department doesn't have to worry
about separate fueling and maintenance for the generator
in order to have lights --as long as the vehicle engine
is operating, the lights will operate. The lights will
even operate when the vehicle is moving, as in a "pump-and- roll" situation
while fighting a moving wildland fire at night.
For rescue vehicles,
it means more compartment space, but more importantly,
it means a quieter operating environment at the incident
scene. When someone's life hangs in the balance, the roar
of an engine-driven generator can hamper communications
between the rescuers and can further traumatize the victim.
The Magnafire
3000 H.I.D. is also perfect for ambulances, where there
is usually little or no room for either a generator or
an inverter and where a quiet environment is important.
The wide-angle light pattern provides a broad area of illumination
to assist extrication, triage, stabilization, and preparation
for transport in multiple-victim incidents.
Other applications
include hazardous materials units, command centers, aircraft
rapid intervention vehicles, fireboats, support vehicles,
mechanics' trucks, and arson investigation vehicles.
